fermacell® floor systems - For solid flooring under your feet

The better choice

Dry flooring is becoming more and more important as a soil solution. For a long time, the area of application was largely limited to modernization. At an economically justifiable cost, they made it possible to maintain many wooden beam ceilings in old buildings and at the same time ensured modern floor comfort. In the meantime, fermacell® gypsum fibre flooring elements are also becoming more and more popular in new buildings, both for solid buildings and steel skeleton constructions as well as for wooden buildings. They score points against wet flooring with arguments such as
  • dry installation without additional moisture input
  • low installation height
  • economical and fast processing
  • Immediate accessibility and readiness for covering
  • high resilience
  • Relatively low dead weight
  • good sound insulation despite low mass

They can also be used when there are increased fire protection requirements. Due to their high load-bearing capacity, they are not suitable for living areas but also for office and administration buildings.

Your advantages with fermacell® at a glance:

  • Simple installation
  • Stable and resilient
  • Safe fire protection
  • Best room climate

Flooring elements

fermacell® gypsum fibre screed elements consist of two factory-bonded 10 mm or 12.5 mm thick Fermacell boards in 150 x 50 cm format. A circumferential 5 cm wide step fold in combination with the handy size and low weight ensures quick and easy processing. Depending on requirements, fermacell® gypsum fibre flooring elements are available without insulating material or as composite elements with rear lamination.

Different coatings in different thicknesses allow a wide range of applications. For effective thermal insulation, for example, screed elements are available which are provided with 20 or 30 mm polystyrene rigid foam or 60 mm extruded rigid foam. To reduce airborne and impact noise and to increase fire protection, elements are offered with insulation made of 10 mm wood fibre insulation board or 10 mm high-density mineral wool.

Fillings

In principle, a level substrate is required for the installation of fermacell® gypsum fibre flooring elements.

  • Low heights in the range from 0 to 20 mm can be levelled out with the plastic-modified fermacell™ Floor Levelling Compound.
  • The fermacell™ levelling fill can be used to create a fully level surface up to a maximum fill height of 100 mm.
  • The fermacell™ honeycomb insulation system has been specially developed for the soundproofing of wooden beam ceilings during renovation and new construction.
  • With fermacell® bonded fill, height differences of up to 2000 mm can be levelled. Due to its high strength, water insensitivity and low weight, it is suitable for use in public buildings, schools or wet areas and can be used on wooden beam ceilings, arched ceilings and trapezoidal steel ceilings.
  • The fermacell™ thermal insulation fill complements the Fermacell filling programme. It is ideally suited for seamless thermal insulation of hollow spaces, such as those often found in wooden beam ceilings, roofs and sloping ceilings or stud walls.

Depending on the type of filling, impact sound, heat and fire protection requirements can also be met.

Special solutions: underfloor heating

There are practically no restrictions in the use of fermacell® gypsum fibre flooring elements. They can also be used for the installation of underfloor heating systems. They are suitable for conventional hot water heating systems as well as for selected electrically operated underfloor heating systems.

Attic and cellar ceiling element

A lot of heat escapes through the ceilings of uninsulated and unheated attics. A simple, uncomplicated and relatively inexpensive measure to reduce the energy requirement is the insulation of the top floor ceiling. With the fermacell® N+F attic insulation element, the high energy requirements for the insulation of the top floor ceiling are achieved with particularly low construction heights.

The N+F basement ceiling insulation element also helps to save energy.
